Running is a skill and Technique is everything
Why do we need to be taught how to run, would you try teaching yourself how to swim, surf, ski, play tennis or golf? Having coaching sessions for all of these sports and many more is essential to obtain the correct technique and skills needed in order to achieve a higher level of ability. This applies to everyone whatever standard you are from novice to elite in your chosen sport.
Running is no different and lessons are required to learn, perfect and master the technique that will enable you to become a skilled runner in a shorter period of time, with less likelihood of injuries, and without the frustration of the trial and error method.
To run skillfully we must begin by breaking the whole action (macro skill) into its smaller component parts (micro skills) and
then learning to carry out these skills competently.
The more masterfully we can carry out the component skills, the more skillful a runner we shall be. The brain just needs to
learn the simple patterns and apply them in the right order, at the right level of competency, and at the right time.
The process of learning will vary from person to person, so in order to succeed you have to have patience and perseverance.
Whilst you will see and feel positive differences quickly, it is taking the time to learn and understand that will produce the
positive long lasting effects.
When carrying out and learning new skills, you will be using and activating new groups of muscles, as well as loading other
muscles differently. This process can often produce D.O.M.S (Delayed onset muscle soreness), so when we start learning to
run it is important we concentrate on drills and strengthening exercises appropriate to the skill being learnt. We have to
prepare the body to be 'Fit for purpose'. If you are not prepared then you may experience setbacks.

Why VIVOBAREFOOT?
Barefoot running is a fantastic training tool, a way to help you run lighter,
longer, and stronger than ever, pain free, and with less chance of
injuries.
It's also a way to plug back into nature or to go from observing the
scenery as we run past, to becoming one with the scenery. For some, it's
even a spiritual experience.
Going barefoot works by reawakening a light, natural stride in the body,
through the feedback we get from our feet touching the ground. There's
less impact and joint torque than in a shoe, it reawakens muscles that
have atrophied in our shoes, reawakens nerve endings and our balance
system, stimulates reflexology points on the bottom of our feet. This all
means a stronger body, less joint pain, better posture, more mobility,
greater health, and greater freedom.
